every day.

good morning, y’all! it’s friday and you know what that means. (and p.s. that sounded far more chipper than my eyes held together with toothpicks this morning feel.) go visit gypsy mama and find joy in the journey of fellow sojourners there.

here is this week’s prompt:

every day.

every day this week i have painted faces except for one day when i got to swoon over sweet baby cameron, this baby for whom we prayed and prayed and prayed into life sent from god’s hand and god’s heaven, and that feels like a thousand days ago now and i woke up today and didn’t even know what today is because every other day this week has looked the same.

and so it is for today but only in this week as next week my real summer schedule will kick in when i will teach classes like counting change and upper and lower case letters and writing names and i know it sounds like i am teaching to kindergardeners but they are actually elder and older and wiser and have lived more life than you or i but were never given the chance or opportunity or had to quit school to care for family and now they are left in a place that smells like urine and bleach and it is potent and i can’t wait because i have much to learn.

and every day this week and in the days to come i get to touch beautiful women who come in and say, ‘i’m so sorry, i don’t have anything on my face right now’ and they apologize for themselves, for who they are because their face is bare, raw to look at. and i get it and i know and they are afraid i will see more and i do but i can’t and so i look at them and see their beauty and i touch them softly and say loving things that souls need to hear because they have been spoken into my soul by my father, my creator, by others who love me because they love him.

and so i am thankful for every day this week and in the days to come.

that i will rise and say ‘thank you, jesus, for this new day. for this new life, for this new way you have given me to live and breathe and have your being’. because this is what kingdom living looks like in the every day.

but not ’til i’ve had my tea.

{next week i’ll be on a better schedule and you will hear from this heart of mine again.}

    Lovely. Especially, the line about how they are not kindergartners, but elder and older and wiser…

    MK! I’ve missed you this week! But I’m glad to see that you’re back!

    Everyday…every day this week I’ve felt like I’ve been living lasts for me and my best friend. The last time well sign each other’s yearbooks. The last time we’ll walk to orchestra together. The last time we’ll eat lunch together.

    Every day this week brings a new set of tears for her. Another day for me to be brave for her, but I can only imagine what the day will look look like when were standing in here driveway and I’m hugging her for the last time.

    I think you have found your multitude of callings. Love you so, so, so much and love that you love our precious baby so much! YOU ROCK!!! God has definitely given you the skill of making other women realize the beauty they have long forgotten about themselves. What an awesome gift!
