beauty for ashes.
together, god and i are co-authoring our love story on a daily basis. the recurring theme of it all, simply: grace. not mine, his.
it is a privilege to be his child, an honor to be called his friend and a pleasure to be his bride.
while i was raised in a ministry family and have known the lord all my life, my journey has not been easy and i’m rather unconventional in my practices anymore. but i sure love jesus with my whole heart. moreover, i know he loves me with a reckless, undying, fierce, jealous and passionate love.
i know this because he’s told me.
he’s told me by way of the steps we’ve taken together on my long and winding road. he’s rescued me from the dark places, guided me through the valleys and i’ve followed him up some steep mountains just so i could look at the beautiful vista of his creation in me. he has been relentless in his pursuit of me.
i am a sheep who knows the voice of her shepherd only because he has time and time again come after me.
there’s something else. you might see someone you know in my stories. my greatest hope is that you would recognize yourself in my journey and be offered experience, strength and hope. my earnest prayer is that you would find freedom in christ through my hard-earned lessons.
my freedom has come at a cost.
so has yours.
i want you to know you are not alone, you’re enough and you are {probably} not the crazy one.
i have moved all of my posts into certain categories to the right of my blog under ‘our story’, which i named because it’s not only my story. my hope is i’m telling parts of your story, too. i would love to hear more.
you will not find judgment here. you are safe. you are welcome in this place.
thanks for joining the journey with me, pilgrim.

p.s. i’ve occupied this space for a while now. as such, i’ve told a lot of my story. this is a list of my most-viewed posts. while they may not be my favorite stories, or even the most well-written, they are the ones that have generated the greatest response. you’ll learn a lot about me, and perhaps yourself, through these words if you’re so inclined to read them.

Mary Kathryn,
I just finished reading all of these and I just want to say, my two favorite things about you so far are your gracious heart and your love for life. I think it is amazing that you talk about the people who have hurt you with such grace, I don’t think I could. As for the loving life thing, even though I have a BFF that is particularly good at that too, I sometimes get this idea in my head-from literally NO ONE but I guess Satan-that enjoying life too much is wrong. Thanks for letting God use you to tell me that that is not true, as well as to remind me how awesome His grace is. I seriously wish we could be friends in real life.
Love,
Carmen

I love, love, love the first sentence of this: “together, god and i are co-authoring our love story on a daily basis.” I adore that. It is so true!! I love how your blog is such a community, as as you say, “you are welcome in this place.”
Love ya, MK!

I am in gleeful anticipation at becoming more acquainted with you, your writings, your confessions of a journeying daughter. What beauty He already bestows in and through you. How evident is your heart for Him! Such blessing to share in the relationship you are daily building with our Father, our King.
I’m currently sitting at my desk at work, trying to restrain myself from spending the rest of the day getting lost in the story God has authored for you. (I will wait until a better time!) I love learning about people and meeting new brothers and sisters. There is such delight when the Body grows in unity and support of one another. So here is a new sister, eagerly supporting you, in what God is doing and will continue to do in your life. Nice to “meet” you.

Leigh,
You are so, so kind! Thank you so much. I look forward to (not being on my BB) the end of the wkd and being able to visit your blog as well. Such a wonderful gift, like you said, to meet other brothers and sisters, fellow sojourners. Thank you for reading at all, most especially for your encouragement.
